Cascade complex

The originator of the Cascade complex idea is architect Alexander Tamanyan (1878-1936). He wanted to connect the northern and central parts of the city - the historically residential and cultural centers of the city - with a huge green space of waterfalls and gardens, which was to "enthrone" from one of the highest hills in the city. This project fell into deep oblivion until the late 1970s, when it was revived by Yerevan's chief architect, Jim Torosyan.
